It's Christmas Day! I do some final food prep, and then the guests arrive. We've got lots of footage of YarnderMum being her very cute self, as well as Smudge the YarnderDog and the rest of the Yarnder family. In the evening we visit the Yarnders-in-law, where Smudge meets a new doggie friend and we end the evening with a game of Star Wars Trivial Pursuit.
It's Christmas Eve! I'm doing lots of cooking today, as well as looking at Christmas lights, and watching our traditional Xmas Eve shows (including the Justice League cartoon).
It's Christmas Eve Eve! Lots happening today, involving copious amounts of (re-used) wrapping paper, for gifts and making bon-bons for the table. I also finish-up the two knitted gifts I needed to finalise, and I can now rest a little, knowing that there is just the food prep to do.
It's a red, black and grey day as my knitting visits several places including a lovely lunch location. Sophie "meets" Hello Kitty, and Smudge helps with knitting.
As well as getting a blood test (fascinating) I went to a workshop organised by Krissy who started the business "Inspired Little Pot". We learned all about making our own body products from easy-to-find, low-tox ingredients. You can find all her contact details at 08:02:22
There's the opening of the Advent calendars, some time in a shady spot outside, carol singing from a work colleague and donations of food & toys that I organised for my workplace to donate to charity.
I check out the new She-ra reboot with the YarnderTeen, have lots of tea (some good, some not so), sample some local beers, and, of course, do some knitting.
We've got Christmas decorations, we've got YarnderMum and we've got dinner at a Japanese restaurant for my step-son's 22nd birthday. It was a great Summer Saturday. :-)
Today I show you some of the sights of Perth city as I make my way to work and to meet up with a knitting friend in the early evening. (We did have a sad end to the night though, with a one-way vet trip for our rattie, Mimi.)
Today there is lots of footage of YarnderMum! However, in some of the videos, her head isn't showing - sometimes, when I record on my phone, it cuts off the top of the shot when I use the editing software and I have no idea how to make that not happen. So, apologies that her voice is disembodied, but I included several still shots so you can see her gorgeous smile. :-) There's also some advent things, yummy (and easy) food, and of course, Smudge.
Today we take Smudge for a walk amongst the gorgeous jacaranda trees; make a yummy Moroccan vegan dinner; and look at some other things around the house.
Today we open advent packages and tea for the 2nd and 3rd of December; go on an early morning walk; do some knitting, and drink wine out of a can. (Yes, a can.) ;-)

Welcome to Episode 72 of the YarnderWoman Podcast! This episode was filmed on 19 July 2018, in Perth, Western Australia. This episode has a mix of regular podcast style chats, as well as some vlog footage taken at my mum's house as I rediscover some crafts of our past.
Welcome to Episode 71 of the YarnderWoman Podcast!
This episode is a little different from normal - filmed over a couple of days during the last month, and in a vlog-style rather than me talking to camera. Life has been very full lately, so I'm glad to have this format to use to share some knitting with you, and to tide you over until I can record a more 'usual' episode. :-) You can see all my projects on my Ravely project page. The app I mention is called Forest, and I love growing my little trees and shrubs as a way of halting excessive/mindless/distracting phone usage. Happy crafting!
Welcome to Episode 70 of the YarnderWoman Podcast. This episode was filmed on Thursday 1 March 2018, in Perth, Western Australia. My apologies for the lighting quality in this episode - I didn't have my studio lights available.
I had a fantastic time at thePerth Writers Festival - I'll show you all my signed books in a future episode. Enjoy my little vlog.
I am raising funds for Alzheimer's WA by participating in the HBF Run for a Reason (in the 12km jogging/brisk walking category). Any donation would be appreciated, so if you are able to, please sponsor me!
Welcome to Episode 69 of the YarnderWoman Podcast! This episode was filmed on 15 February 2018 in Perth, Western Australia.
This is a longer episode than normal - the last half an hour is devoted to discussing some books I've read lately, on the topics of minimalism, decluttering and simplicity.
So if you're just here for the knitting, that's no worries and you can enjoy the first hour, as there is definitely lots of knitting! :-) The time stamps for the various segments are as follows:
Watch the episode to see if you are a new winner (by re-draw) of one of two patterns from our 2017 Charity KAL thread! Thank you to our prize sponsors:
Stash sorting - you can do ‘advanced search’ within your own stash
Mental health – let’s keep the conversation going and de-stigmatise mental health conditions, as well as society's common response to those with a chronic illness - the article that gives a great analogy about how some people with chronic illness may / often feel can be found here: https://butyoudontlooksick.com/articles/written-by-christine/the-spoon-theory/
Minimalism / decluttering / simplicity / budgeting books I've read in the last few months: The Minimalists:
I watched The Minimalists documentary on Netflix when in Japan.
Welcome to Episode 68 of the YarnderWoman Podcast! This episode, as always, comes to you from Perth in Western Australia, and was filmed on Friday 2 February 2018. You can find YarnderWoman merchandise on Red Bubble. All purchases send a little money my way to help keep the lights on for the podcast.
Today's segments are as follows: Brooching the Subject:
A brooch made of vintage buttons that I bought at a secondary vendor area at the Australian Sheep and Wool Show in 2016.
I'm currently re-reading (listening) to “Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix”, the fifth book in the Harry Potter series by J K Rowling. During the last few months of last year, I listened to a lot of self-improvement books, around tidying/cleaning, minimalism and slow living. I’ll chat more about those in the next episode – let me know if there are any specific topics you’d like to hear about.
